Maintaining Wood
™
Wood
™ needs no maintenance to keep looking great for years!
Wood
™ will become grey in due time, like Western Red Cedar.
This weathering is caused by the natural process of oxidation of the wood fibers, present in the product and is influenced by factors like shadow, air pollution and the amount of sunlight. Its natural durability makes protective treatments unnecessary; an occasional cleaning is all that’s needed to keep your Tech-Wood deck the envy of the neighborhood.
Cleaning Wood
™
Wood
™ can easily be cleaned. Moss, algae and other dirt can be removed with warm water and a brush or with a high pressure hose. Soap-like products can be added to the water, without harming Tech-Wood. Under no circumstances should organic or chemical solvents or acids be used.
Bad stains such as grease, oil, chewing gum or cigarette burns should be removed as soon as possible. A stiff sponge or wire brush may be necessary. The fresh surface revealed will become grey again in time.
Do not apply paint or stain if rain is expected within 48 hours. In certain climates you may have to wait for a drier time of year to paint or stain. Exterior temperature should be above 60 degrees F. We recommend doing a small test area on your project to insure your satisfaction with color choice and appearance before proceeding with the entire job.
Clean Wood
™
Sweep or brush debris off your Wood
™ surface. Clean the surface with warm water, or another high quality wood cleaner of your choice, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and in good condition. You may need to wait a few days for the surface to completely dry depending on weather conditions. Cover plants, grass, concrete, trim, and any other areas you do not want stained or painted.
Applying paint or stain to Wood
™
Stir product thoroughly. Make sure that all pigment is mixed evenly into the stain. Apply one coat of paint or stain following label directions. For stain, after 30 minutes, brush or roll out any excess product puddled or pooled on the surface of the deck. If excess product is not removed, sticky, shiny spots may remain on the surface.
